SYNOPSIS

Martin, the son of a wealthy Mexican politician, has never worked a day in his life. Fed up with his reckless behavior and lack of responsibility, his parents send him to Los Angeles to live a modest life with his distant cousin Gabby, a hardworking music teacher and single mother.

Instead of finding a job, Martin leisurely burns through his allowance chasing delusions of rock stardom while Gabby struggles to make ends meet. His attempts to break into the Los Angeles music scene repeatedly fail—until a chance opportunity lands him at a convention for children’s entertainers.

Thrust into the bizarre subculture of children’s music—known in the industry as “kindie” music—Martin finds himself surrounded by hyper-competitive, self-righteous, and unhinged performers. In a desperate move to stand out at the showcase, he steals one of Gabby’s original songs and passes it off as his own.

The gamble pays off. Martin’s performance earns him representation from a powerful talent agent and launches the “Hola Martín” character on a scrappy tour of elementary schools, libraries, and community events—the unglamorous proving grounds of the children’s music circuit. As he struggles to keep the act afloat, Martin continues secretly stealing Gabby’s songs, turning her music into the backbone of his growing repertoire.

Martin’s sudden rise draws unwanted attention. A well-established children’s band, worried the newcomer is encroaching on their corner of the market, turns to the lead singer’s uncle—a volatile former East L.A. gang member—for help dealing with the competition.

Meanwhile, what begins as Martin’s small-time hustle soon spirals into something much bigger when one of the songs goes viral. The unexpected success leads to a high-profile crossover collaboration with a global pop megastar and eventually a Grammy nomination, transforming “Hola Martín” from a novelty act into an overnight sensation.

After achieving the fame he always dreamed of, Martin drifts further away from his family and friends, spiraling deeper into the chaotic celebrity lifestyle that comes with being a rock star for preschoolers. Eventually, when the lies and deception begin to surface, Martin’s carefully built world starts to crumble.

In a desperate attempt to control the narrative, Martin hatches a plan to stage his own kidnapping and reemerge as a sympathetic hero. But when the abduction turns real, a caravan of ragtag children’s entertainers races across the border to rescue the children’s music superstar—and claim the reward.

By the time the dust settles on music’s biggest night, Martin must decide whether to continue living the lie—or finally face the truth behind his success.

INSPIRED BY REAL EXPERIENCES

The world of ¡Hola Martín! is inspired by real experiences in the children’s music industry. The story draws from the career of the creator’s wife, a successful kindie artist who has spent years performing at schools, libraries, and festivals across the country. Many of the characters and situations in the series are heightened versions of real personalities and events encountered along the way.

The World of ¡Hola Martin!

Beneath the cheerful surface of children’s entertainment lies a fiercely competitive and often absurd industry. Performers travel the country playing elementary schools, libraries, and community festivals while competing for agency representation, streaming numbers, viral success, and the highly coveted Grammy.

In this strange ecosystem of wholesome branding, fragile egos, and ruthless ambition, Martin discovers that becoming a children’s music star might be easier than becoming a rock star—but surviving the industry is another story.

MAIN CHARACTERS

MARTIN

Martin is a spoiled thirty-year-old man-child from Mexico who has never worked a day in his life. Arrogant and self-serving, he believes he’s destined to become a rock star despite having little talent and even less discipline. When he accidentally stumbles into the world of children’s music, Martin will do whatever it takes—even stealing songs—to become famous.

GABBY

Gabby is Martin’s distant cousin and the complete opposite of him. A hardworking single mother and dedicated music teacher, she spends her days teaching children while quietly chasing her own dream of breaking into the music industry. Kind-hearted and grounded, Gabby becomes the moral center of the story—and the victim of Martin’s betrayal.

CARLOS

Carlos is Martin’s loyal best friend and bandmate who follows him to Los Angeles without hesitation. Quiet, sweet, and endlessly supportive, he often finds himself dragged into Martin’s reckless schemes. Despite speaking little English, Carlos becomes an unlikely witness to Martin’s rise and moral downfall.

MINDY

Mindy is the ambitious president of Sugar Rush Talent Collective, the most powerful agency in the children’s entertainment industry. Ruthless and fiercely competitive, she treats her performers like assets in a carefully managed brand. When she discovers Martin’s potential, she sets out to turn him into the next big star.

SUPPORTING CHARACTERS

JERRY

Jerry is the frontman of the popular Latin kindie band Los Burritos Bandidos and one of Mindy’s longtime clients. Desperate to hold onto his place in the industry, he sees Martin as a direct threat to his career. Though confident on stage, Jerry struggles with insecurity and an identity crisis as a second-generation Mexican who doesn’t speak Spanish.

TIA

'Tia' is Gabby’s great-aunt who helped raise her after her mother died. A traditional woman from Mexico with a sharp tongue and warm heart, she provides emotional support—and plenty of blunt advice—when things begin to fall apart.

HANNAH

Hannah is an independent record label owner who believes deeply in artistic integrity. Intelligent and driven, she sees potential in Martin but quickly senses something isn’t right about his sudden success. While Martin assumes she’s impressed by him, Hannah may be the first person capable of exposing the truth.

OSCAR

Oscar is Jerry’s uncle, a former East L.A. gang member who now lives a quiet suburban life with his much younger wife. Though he claims to have left his past behind, Oscar still operates by his own code and is always looking for an opportunity. When Jerry asks for help dealing with Martin, Oscar sees a chance to profit.

CHASE

Chase is a kind-hearted and deeply religious children’s performer who leads the wholesome kindie band Chasin’ Grace. By day he drives for Uber, where he unexpectedly crosses paths with Martin and becomes his driver during the tour. Chase’s sincerity and faith make him an unlikely foil to Martin’s reckless lifestyle.

LINA

Lina is a tough and resourceful hustler who survives by relying on her street smarts. After a chance encounter with Martin during his early tour, she quickly inserts herself into his operation and becomes an unlikely partner in his success—bringing chaos and unpredictability wherever she goes.

SEASON ONE

Season One follows Martin’s transformation from a spoiled aspiring rock star with no talent into the biggest name in children’s music — a career built entirely on stolen songs.

After stumbling into the bizarre world of children’s entertainers, Martin discovers that success in the “kindie” music circuit might be easier than breaking into the rock scene. By secretly passing off his cousin Gabby’s songs as his own, he quickly becomes the newest sensation in the industry.

As Martin’s fame explodes — with viral hits, celebrity collaborations, and a Grammy nomination — the lie behind his success begins to spiral out of control. Rival performers plot against him, the pressure to produce more music intensifies, and the people closest to him begin to uncover the truth.

In a desperate attempt to control the narrative, Martin hatches a plan to stage his own kidnapping and emerge as a sympathetic hero. But when the abduction turns out to be real, a chaotic rescue mission unfolds, forcing Martin to confront the consequences of the life he built on deception.

By the end of the season, Martin must decide whether to continue living the lie — or finally face the truth behind his success.
